Callaway Trade In! Trade Up!: how it works and is it worth it?
Callaway's Trade In! Trade Up! program takes your used clubs, including other brands, as a discount on Callaway gear. It's convenient, but the payout is only good toward a Callaway purchase. Here's how it works and how its values compare.
How it works
- Price your trade. Use the online tool to see what your used clubs are worth. Callaway accepts other major brands, not just Callaway and Odyssey.
- Buy your new Callaway gear and add the trade to your order. The new purchase must be equal to or greater than your trade value.
- Ship the old clubs free. Callaway emails a label. You can wait for your new clubs and reuse the same box.
- Get your refund. Once your trade is received and checked, the value is refunded to your original payment method, within 14 days of delivery.
Rules to know
- Iron sets need at least seven consecutive clubs (for example 4–PW or 5–PW plus SW). A seven-club set is valued at 7/8 of a standard set.
- Rejected: broken clubs, clubs that rattle, dented heads or rock-gouged irons, non-factory changes other than grips, heavy rust, missing parts, and loose heads or shafts.
- Limits: up to $2,500 in trade value per customer or household per calendar year, with up to $500 in trade bonuses.
- US and Canada only. Clubs sent from elsewhere are returned at the sender's cost.
- Trade values can change, so confirm yours right before you check out.
How Callaway's values compare
In MyGolfSpy's November 2025 test with a used Ping G440 Max driver, Callaway Golf Pre-Owned offered $250, near the bottom of nine retailers:
| Retailer | Trade-in offer |
|---|---|
| 2nd Swing | $294.94 |
| Golf Galaxy | $280.80 |
| GlobalGolf | $280.80 |
| TaylorMade | $280.50 |
| DICK'S Sporting Goods | $280.00 |
| Worldwide Golf | Up to $280 |
| Callaway Golf Pre-Owned | $250.00 |
| Golf Avenue | $225–$270 |
| PGA TOUR Superstore | $224.00 |
For comparison, used G440 drivers sold for a median of $372 on eBay in our data. If you charge the buyer $15 shipping, eBay's 13.6% fee plus $0.40 comes to about $53, and a label and box run about $18. That leaves you about $316. See our eBay fee guide for the math.
That's about 79% of what you'd net selling it yourself, and you have to spend it at Callaway. The math changes when Callaway runs a trade-up bonus: brand promotions from Callaway and TaylorMade have paid 1.5x to 2x trade value toward new clubs. With a bonus, trading in can beat selling.
When Trade In! Trade Up! makes sense
- You're buying new or certified pre-owned Callaway gear anyway.
- There's a trade-up bonus running.
- Your clubs are worth under about $75, where eBay fees and shipping eat most of a private sale.
